Best Orange Brother Story!

Last week at a seminar, we were talking about tools to deal with Orange kids. Even at a really young age, their core value is freedom (at all cost…at any price…). That’s when a Gold Mom told us the story of her four-year old Orange son and his brother.

Orange son started to refuse to put on his seatbelt in the car. Of course, Mom isn’t putting the car in gear until he does…and he won’t…and she won’t get out of the driveway…but he still won’t…

In the best “Orange sibling” story ever, she shared that her seven-year old told his brother to put on his seatbelt and he’d give him a dollar. Done deal and off they went.

If it had just been Gold Mom and Orange son, they might still be in the driveway. But the seven-year old was not stuck as well and came up with that solution! Win-win…for a while…

The downside? What the seven-year old isn’t going to see coming: Orange kids at any age are already very street-smart. It won’t be long before the dollar will turn to two bucks. Why not? It’s worth a try… At that point, his brother has to give him a reality check: Your choice: Take the buck and put on your seatbelt, or don’t, and deal with Mom. Good luck to him…
