Orange In Training (?) and A BIG Problem

Since it’s the start of school, even if you don’t have kids, these two will make you smile:

Orange In Training? (OIT)

In my church there is always a five minute children’s story during the service. Last Sunday, about 10 kids came up front – all around five to eight years old. One, we’ll call him OIT was super happy being up front and looking at all the people…wow…way better view from here and they’re all looking at me! Pastor asked who was now back to school? All of their hands went up. He was getting to the “why go to school” subject, so asked what’s 2 plus 2? Everybody answered. Then: what’s 3 times 3? Still a bunch of kids shouted it out.

OK, what’s 742 x 316? Without any hesitation, OIT yelled out: 1,360. The other kids instantly looked at him in awe that he knew that answer while Pastor was still formulating a way to explain he wasn’t even close! Then the question of: Who wants to be a teacher when they grow up? A couple of hands went up, but the only one who verbalized an opinion was OIT: No way! And in a quieter voice: Too many rules…

Then on Tuesday morning, my radio station played a clip from a five-year old: Proud Mom picked up her daughter Monday afternoon after her first day of Kindergarten and thought she’d record her daughter’s first day observations. No chance she expected her daughter to go off on her…

The one-minute clip (from my website via Word Press) is priceless and well worth a listen. Hands up if you’d like to be the one to tell this girl when she will next have nap time in grades 1 to 12…or which college or university…or which employers offer that?
