The Gift Of Blues

Blues look to have everyone’s needs met and are driven to achieve that goal as a large self-esteem builder. That makes their presence, input and help a win-win for others and themselves.

Blues have an almost super power in knowing or anticipating the needs of others even before they do. Yes, a Blue person can actually help before ever being asked!

Every Color on every team has many more (and very different) strengths beyond their resume and talents. With Blues, it’s the gift of understanding relationships, interpersonal dynamics, and the social system in any group. Blues can quickly read people in a room, a meeting, a crowd, a customer, or coworkers in their cubicle world, shop or worksite.

Unfortunately, other Colors generally don’t know it, see it, value it, or just take it for granted. The time others take notice is when their needs haven’t been met. The group has just become so used to a Blue person taking care of the people-things automatically that it’s pretty obvious when that’s no longer happening! Why? Because Blues may stop or pull back if they’re not feeling valued – whether that’s perception or reality.

Every team needs (and has) Golds to watch the details, schedules, and bottom line. Greens to think ahead, anticipate the pitfalls, and challenge us to do more than ‘good enough,’ and Oranges to focus on the today-steps, practicality, and to stay flexible in rolling with the punches. In that same way, Blues contribute to the success of any team in many intangible ways. They may be harder to ‘see,’ but just as critical.
